After a two day ride we arrived at the major city in Laos, Vientiane. After the limited resourses available in Luang Prabang this city was luxury. I found all the items on my list in just one store and restocked with all the personal goods needed to continue the journey.
While walking to a coffeshop I ran into Ben, a dreddie from Belgium whom I befriended while staying in the refuge. Most definately not a coincidence. He took my bike for a spin and could not resist getting a bike for himself and joining in on the expedition. His bike was a much newer version of mine and had an extra gear that I kept trying to find on mine.
After realizing we were heading the wrong way for about 30kms, we got on track and made some good time to the first stop, a small guesthouse, and the only guesthouse for a long stretch. This is where I wish I would have taken the time to journel. The name of the town is now lost to me but, basically it was up around a tip of Thailand before headeing south again.
While looking for food, which almost always consisted of a meat based soup with noodles and bean sprouts with the option to add all sorts of freah veggies and herbs, we where invited into a salon/ house where some locals were dancing and drinking. Turns out it was the head police officer who was lit and kept trying to hook me up with these two local girls and was quite relentless. All innocent and turned in after setting up the mosquito net and pulliong the bike into the room.
Made a goal to head towards the Vietnam border for a cave and hot springs. More stories to come.
