A friend asked if we were interested in helping out and filming the 6th annual Karnataka state special olympics. After hearing the stories of working with these kids I could not refuse. We were to help with the parade and pretty much just show our support. Being white here is strange. The social levels are distinct and everyone has a pecking order. With the role the British had here bring white puts me automatically up there. I have men putting their wives and family next to me to take pictures. Most just don't have any shame in the most invasive actions and questions, staring seems like it just can't be helped. Anyway, I can't believe how far they made these kids walk through the blocked streets of Mysore. Now you have to imagine a place where traffic really never stops for anything. Its honk, weave, flash lights and drive straight at oncoming traffic, unless something bigger comes along. So here's a couple hundred metally challenged kids and adults all holding hands and just in their own worlds, holding signs blocking traffic for a couple miles. But there really isn't any road rage. People screw up all the time and they gist give a head bobble and move on. I must write a whole blog on the head bobble, maybe even a book, it has so many uses. Better yet, I'll have someone do it who can write better than myself.
