We have had some great weather, yesterday was sunny and was clear most of the day.  We have been walking around town, playing at the community playground and meeting other local families and getting to practice our Spanish.  People are so friendly and Miranda especially has made many, many friends - pretty much everyone she meets (any age) says to her "que linda" (how cute, I'm guessing) she gets all smiles!  it helps to meet others easily.  Sydney gets some attention too.

People greet each other with "Buenos" on the street and at shops.  The exchange rate is about 500 colones per U.S. dollar, not too bad but prices here are a lot higher in general than we thought.  Went looking for places to rent today with our friend Carlos, what a great guy to take us around all day!  We will finalize our plans by Monday.

I like the birds singing in the morning, all new songs and beautiful.  Birds here in the lush greenery of our backyard at the hotel/b&b.  We learned that there are more bird species here in CR than in the whole United States and Canada.  CR is the size of West Virginia.

Thoughts from Sydney.... verbatim

"the first day i was here i had a chocolate donut in costa rica.  and too, i had pastry.  and i love chocolate.

i'm going on a bus type thing and i'll see a volcano i think.

i was in a grown up bed, i felt like a big kid.

i think
that we're going to a butterfly farm.  and i want to go to the cloud
forest.   and i think i'll have a lot of fun in the cloud forest.

i think that we are going to one of the museums too.  that will be a little silly."
