They warn you that you smell Rotorua before you see it & its true. The sulphur smell is everywhere! The bubbling mud & boiling streams & geysers & amazing geological formations are amazing but the town is a bit of a dump! Its great fun looking at gloopy mud & watching steam erupt from the ground. you wander around as if in thick mist from an old horror movie, but its not mist its steam! We spent the evening in the Polynesian Spa, one of the oldest medicinal spring complexes next to the lake, ending up like lobsters!
