Flew to Christchurch for a couple of weeks in the South Island & arrived to bright blue skies despite the severe wearther warnings before we left Auckland, the bad weather hit Wellington instead.
We headed inland to the Southern Alps & Arthurs Pass where it was cold & wet but spectacular scenery & plenty of ferns for Paul to tick off in his I Spy NZ ferns book! Loads of amazing waterfalls & mountains & Kea - Alpine Parrots! but no people. A distinct lack of people once you leave Christchurch & there aren't that many there either!
