Because the weather was so bad our plans for the day had to be changed. The lake was so rough and many of the smaller boats and sea taxis couldn't dock at the pier
. So what better way to spend a miserable, rainy day than shopping! Especially if it happens to be in yet another country! Switzerland is less than an hour from Bellagio. We spent a few hours wandering around a designer outlet shopping centre in Mendrisio, and so sorry to say that I didn't buy anything! Tony bought some jeans and that was it! I found a lovely Chanel jacket which was half price, bringing it down to $758 but decided to leave it!
Back in Bellagio, after a harrowing drive on narrow, winding roads, I wandered around the streets of this beautiful little town whilst there was a break in the rain. Lots of boutiques and galleries, and many many restaurants, cafes and wine bars. Had to buy some silk scarves, from the Como area.
We had dinner at a little restaurant up along one of the lane ways- still raining- but everyone here is in fine spirits. Still looking for George Clooney but he must be somewhere else this weekend.
Off to Venice tomorrow! Can't wait...
We awoke to a flooded apartment! The rain and storms had been so severe throughout the night that water had gone in through the windows and doors and was all over the floors. I contacted the owner of the apartment, Sabrina, who came around with mops and buckets, and was full of apologies. Apparently there had been landslides and many emergencies throughout the night. She relayed this information to us via her mobile phone with Google Interpreter! We told her there was no reason for apologies- just nature at its worst. (When we returned to the apartment after our day out exploring, there was a little gift bag hanging off our door. Inside was a note,' A thought to apologise again for the incident- so sorry.' Inside were some gorgeous beads from one of the local boutiques. How lovely!)
