Today was Terry Fox Day.  It was really great for me because I had 2 Preps in a row and Dianne Peckford and I were able to work on setting up the Big Blocks program in my class.  Then I only had about 20 minutes of "work" before I took my class to watch a Terry Fox video in another room.  After that we all went out for a walk or run.  There was something ludicrous about telling a couple of young women to put out their cigarettes on a cancer fundraiser walk.

When we got back, the teachers who had been working on getting the BBQ going were all done and there were free hotdogs and burgers for everyone.  I had been asked to bring my own and so I had Lorna cook up a box of 4 for me (dinner and lunch for another couple of days).  I spent the rest of lunch going to the Post Office, Wrangling River, and the rental office.  At the Post Office I found my TV Guide was in -- the one for LAST week.  I've already cancelled the subscription (and now use the online option).  I also got cards indicating I had two big parcels.  Must be the computer I ordered.  Now to find a way to get it home.  At Wrangling River I looked at office chairs and think I may have one in 2 weeks.  Nice.  At the rental office I gave up dealing with the dude as it was really frustrating and I was runnng out of time.  I asked him to call a cab and have it find me on the road.  Then when I walked out a man was dropping off his wife and took me to school.  Ah, the joys of a small town.

The afternoon was easy - as there was a series of floor hockey games to start off the new season of new teams.  I was able to have an EA take a couple of my classes to watch while I worked again with Dianne. We got a lot done and I am feeling so much better.  So much so that I decided to leave early (i.e. before 6PM!!) and make a second attempt at the rental office and Post Office.  At Nothern Properties I ran into the mom of one of my sets of twins.  She was far more helpful than the guy at lunch.  I took the time to write out a series of post-dated cheques to avoid having to rush in the future.  I walked to the PO and figured I would ask for a lift if I ran into anyone - and take a cab if I had to.  I had my two big boxes perched on the counter and asked a woman if she had a car and got a head shake.  The next person in line was a man with white hair and I hit the jackpot.  I offered to pay him the price of the cab - but at the other end he refused the cash.  He even helped get them into the apartment building.  Ah, the joys of a small town.

Dan and I got together for supper at my place.  He brought the dog.  The dog, Kodo, had eaten a chair leg and he thought he should get her a new home.  He took her to Neil's place, but Neil's partner was not a fan. Hence, Kodo has another lease on life as a free puppy.

Tonight was a birthday party for a teacher at the high school.  Dianne lives on my floor at Mountain View so we walked over together to the party.  About half the crowd was playing poker and the other half was in the living room setting up the Wii.  We played skiing, balance games, hula hooping, and boxing.  During the skiing, someone kept telling people to get into a good tuck position.  So, when it was my turn, I got up on the platform, bent my knees, stuck out my butt, and said, "Does this game make my ass look big?"  I thought Tom was going to have a coronary - he thought that was pretty darn funny of me.  At one point we were hanging at the dip bowl and he wanted to know where the spoons were!  It was really good dip.  He took a chip and loaded it up and fed it to me.  I couldn't swallow it for laughing and he got his camera out.  I think there may exist a photo of me with dip on my chin.  Not one bit ladylike at all.  Speaking of cameras - I think there is also a video of me hoola hooping on the Wii.  Not pretty.  The boxing was the best.  I love boxing and really plan on taking classes when I get home.  Miss Camilla, you had better keep your promise!!

Later, a group of us ended up at the Trapper.  At one point I turned to Tom and stuck my bum in his direction, looked over my shoulder, and asked, "Does this bar make my ass look fat?"

Dianne says you have to let your hair down up here - especially in the dark months.  Oh dear - this is nowhere NEAR the dark months and the hair letting was pretty wild.  Should be some good times on the horizon!!!!

Re: Your good times Birthday party Wii hehe
It was so much fun. Now I want a Wii. Hint hint for anyone thinking of gift ideas. (even bigger hint: don't get me the game where you have to do push ups -- go for the boxing and the hoola hooping)
