I was walking home from my lunch time excursion to the Post Office so that meant coming up Tununuk (a road of sorts) instead of via the shortcut between Northern Image and The Eskimo Inn (and then up and over a utilador).  The road dips down and to the right and the whole area to my left is empty field - except for a sign announcing "Future Site of ......Development".  I saw a movement in the scrub and something with a very fat tail.  I figured it for a fox but had never seen one in "rreal life".  A man in a truck was pulling up to the housing complex on my right and when he got out I asked for verification.  It was a fox.  He said they are all over the place including living in dens under some of the houses.  I kept walking and the fox kept hunting.  I wasn't the only lookie-loo; a car filled with women and children pulled onto the shoulder to watch the episode of "Wild Kingdom" unfold.  This was fascinating....until the fox started walking towards the road.  I was fine as long as she or he was wandering in the brush -- but heading my way with deliberate steps had me sweating.  At one point I started to debate rushing the car and pictured myself opening the door and jumping into the lap of the poor older woman in the passsenger seat.  I stayed still - poised to bolt - and was relieved when the fox sauntered away in the opposite direction.  Outdoorsie I ain't -  though I did think that someone in town would make good use of that very bushy tail as part of a parka..........
