Getting up at 8 after staying up till 1 made for a sleepy start - but I was even able to shovel in some oatmeal.  Dan and I hoofed it to the high school for our newbie's orientation.  We spent the day filling in forms - and the highlight was TWO cheques!!  It turns out they paid us starting in July.  Woo hoo!!!  I have enough to pay off the line of credit I started to get myself through the summer!  I also met the secretary and one of the Sepc Ed. folks and got the keys to the school and my class.  Guess that makes it official.

Neil told us about a second hand store so he and Dan and I stopped in at lunch.  The store was closed but when the proprietor, Ruth, found out who we were she let us in.  What a town!  So far everyone has been so nice and very welcoming.  Dan bought a hat for the coming colder days and I bought some plastic picnic plates and bowls to supplement the tin plate/bowl I brought with me and the set of 2 coming via the movers Midnight Blue

.  I didn't bring a vacuum and found a notice for one at the Post Office (turns out it is a teacher who ended up with two).  However, I may haunt Next to New for the next few weeks.

After "school" I stayed to write this blog and had a long chat with the computer instructor.  Turns out he lives in my building and knows who was in my apartment and said they were not smokers (so that's good news).  The only real problem with internet service up here is when the hospital sends out an x-ray to a specialist in the South!  No laughing from the techie nerds amongst you.  Supposedly everything freezes up as they have priority and kick us off.  He also mentioned something about a jam that happens at 10PM when everyone in town is logged on.  I think I missed something.  Later, I met the new PE teacher who was in trying to set up the weight room.

Now I'm off to buy some more groceries and then that's it for the night.

Oops - stayed up and took a photo at midnight.  I hope it reveals the beautiful deep/bright blue of the sky.
