I'm going for a dip in the pool. Then maybe a $5 massage. And dinner. I haven't seen any restaurants around here....i wonder where i can get a good meal...
Okay, so I left Kuta as soon as possible this morning. Got a taxi to Ubud, about an hour inland from the beach. I found this place called Sania's House Bungalows that was in my guidebook, and holy shit. It's fucking gorgeous. I feel like I have joined the jet set. My bungalow is on the very top story, and I have a private deck with a table, chairs, a chaise lounge, and a papaya tree right outside. If I sit on the porch and sip some tea, I can look down onto the pool and garden courtyard, and see lots of other rooftops (Balinese style, they gently slope up to a point with some kind of ornate carving on top) I can hear wood wind chimes singing, a rooster crowing, and wind through the palm leaves. Every once in a while you can hear the distant rumble of a motorcycle. The room has a romantic four post bed and air-con!!! (some what of a novelty around here) Private bath with an actual tub! Yes! And a real toilet! If this makes you wonder what I was staying at, let me freaking tell you. A dingy little room with a fan, a shower that consisted of a single stream of water, a weird squat toilet thing- holy shit, a gecko just ran by me while I was typing!! Sweet. Anyway, and my other hotel was right on a main road, so it was loud and the birds outside that window whistled cat calls. That hotel was 60000rps (7ish USD). These ultra nice bungalows are 200000 (25usd). TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY. I never want to leave. I think I'll stay a couple days. Then onto Lovina, a beach on the northern coast of the island.
