What a great way to start the weekend.  First time I've seen the sun in Stockholm for what seems like weeks! (and probably was XD)  And there were shadows in the snow and everything!  Too bad I was stuck at home finishing off my Li-ion battery assignment =(.  Not to worry cos that night (Friday) I got to have awesome Russian food with authentic Russian chocolate! mmmm!  Purple vegetables featured heavily haha, beetroot, purple cabbage, as did egg and mayonaise.  My favourite would've been the home baked bread though, they added garlic or something inside that made is soooo tasty *drools*  Thank you Rushana and Helena for all your hard work!!  And for planning all the cool activities =D.  Unfortunately I had to rush off early for....GERMAN MOVIE NIGHT!!!  Busy busy busy haha.  It was my first German movie and what a great movie it was, I'll admit, it's a little bit more art housey and a little bit political with a bittersweet ending but it was the first movie in a long time that made me FEEL something for the characters.  So I highly recommend it if you have a taste for foreign films, it's called "Das Leben der Anderen" or "The Lives of Others", oh and the background of the movie is East Germany 1984...mmm.  Oh did I also mention that there were delicious cookies (thanks Ben, Lisa and Lotta) and slightly burnt popcorn (my fault =P)!

The Saturday was quite chilled (literally!) but I had good weather, well, as good weather as Stockholm in November allows, so I had a little walk about taking all these lovely winter shots of the city =).  You cannot believe how much snow has fallen!  It's ridiculous, in some places where it hasn't been cleared, the snow goes half way to my shin!  Oh but it's so fluffy and soft mmmm...Also on the plus side, since it's so cold, the horrible slush that all my Swedish friends have been warning me about has been avoided! w00t!  That doesn't make riding around Stockholm any less harrowing.  The problem is not knowing whether than pile of snow in front of you is going to melt away or land you face first into the ground...or worse, steer you into the traffic =S.  But yes, Saturday, photos, cold but nice =D.

That evening I went ice skating for the first time in my life!  What a horribly wonderful experience =P  I fell over heaps, as expected but it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, I guess having 5 layers on helps too haha.  By the end of it I could go straight, turn (in VERY wide circles =P) and there was a 50/50 chance of me stopping without falling over XD  But I had a lot of fun...must go again for round 2!  Oh and I also have a bruise...but it's worth it!  Oh, Patrick and I also checked out some of the christmas markets springing up around the place afterwards.  You cannot believe how much better Christmas is with SNOW!  All the songs make sense!!!  And the decorations the Sweds have up are wonderful too, the lit up streets, the window displays (just like Myer!) and the markets!

Sunday was a very lazy day, apart from the aches and pains from ice skating, the sun had also returned to its usual place behind the clouds =(  It can get quite depressing without any light for 17 hours of the day, and since I get up quite late, it's even less for me haha.  Not that I'm depressed, but you just don't feel like doing anything...I'm soooo lazy these days.  XD  Anywho, Sunday night I went out to see Animal Kingdom with the Aussie gang (well, Tom, Yee-Ling, Svet and Dave + curious others wanting to check out Australian films).  Was an intense movie to say the least, not about Melbourne mobsters as I thought but I enjoyed it...I think =P.  The short movie "Muscles" was also played beforehand, I don't think I did enough media to understand it but maybe some of you guys know it haha.  Oh, the Swedish do a funny thing where someone comes out and talks about the movie beforehand as well, weird but that could also be because I don't understand what they're saying XD.
