I have been meaning to take my camera out to the clubs for some time now. I finally did on Friday night. I ended up taking a lot of pictures. Of course my camera got passed around and other people took pics with it too. The results where awesome. I got tons of hilarious pictures of me and the whole crew. What's great about having a large professional looking camera is that total strangers want their pictures taken by you. We spent most of the night in the VIP section that Flaco gets us access to, which is nice but it's also limiting. I end up hanging out with mostly everyone that I already know, with girls I already know (I don't shit where I eat). Next week I will make a conscious effort to hang out with the riff raff on the main floor, which is much more where I belong (I am certainly no first class citizen). I plan to bring the camera out again and take tons of random photos of people. Despite being in the VIP section, there were still quite a few people that would walk by and want their pics taken. I get a bit nervous taking my big camera out at night, but every time that I do, the results are always hilarious and awesome, so I have vowed to do it a bit more often (I actually don't think I have really done it since Europe). It was a fairly standard weekend of the awesomeness that is Cordoba partying. Full of difficult decisions, where should go I, which girls to hang out with, to after bar or not? Kieran was supposed to go to Buenos Aires, but I wasn't totally surprised to see him still there when I got in on Thursday. Stephan who has been here probably at least a month by now, who I thought was leaving, also has not left, haha. This town is a trap.
In all seriousness, the city of Cordoba is not like a spectacular city with tons to do. It is however a great place to hang out, with a young artsy feel, with tons of things to do in the surrounding hills and mountains. It's not too big and it's not too small. It doesn't have the restaurant choice or quality of food that Buenos Aires does and it's not very flash. But that's what's great about it. It's cheap, chill and tons of fun. I think a lot of people would probably come through here and think 'so whats all the fuss about?' Honestly what I think makes Cordoba so special is the people that I have met here, both travelers and locals. People can make or break a place. The people are what make Cordoba so special and great for me. And apparently its the same for other people. Lots of people came to travel though and are just stuck here. I have gotten to know the hostel employees and their friends quite well and I have had a blast hanging out with them and going to parties with them. Friends are invaluable and they are always the reason that it becomes hard to leave a place. So I am glad that I don't have to leave anytime soon.
Off to La Cumbre again for the week.
