Being that I haven't had a good weekend out due to past failed attempts
(see previous entries) and being in a University town (I think its the
biggest university town in Argentina), and being that it was Friday
night, I was wound up to hit it.  And boy did I.  Predrinking
in the hostel so that by 2am (the going out time in Argentina) we were
primed to hit the streets.  The hostelers were going to a club,
but I wasn't ready for a club and neither was another hosteler.
So we headed to the bars first.  Walking out the hostel door, I
noticed drunk people hanging out on the balcony of an apartment across
the street where there was obviously a party going on.  I yelled
up to them to come and let us in so that we could party with
them.  Up we went.  It was a birthday party for one of the
girls that lived there.  Minutes later I found myself on a beer
run with her boyfriend.  On the way back the doorman informed us
that it was past noise making time, so we ended up moving the party to
his house.  We lost half the people, including the birthday girl,
on the way to his place.  More beer for us.  A joint and a
couple of beers later, Sophie (the other hosteler that I was out with)
and I decided it was time for a beer at the bar.  Bounced and got
a beer at the bar.

Here is where things start to get a bit fuzzy.  We finish the beer
and the bar and decide that its time to go to the club.  It was
probably about 4-4:30am.  In to the club, free drink with entrance
and ciao to my memory.  I remember dancing my ass off, kind
of.  In fact I remember once going to the bathroom, walking out
and was totally blank as to where exactly I was and who I was there
with.  Then I saw a familiar face.  Thank god for familiar
faces, haha.  Got home at 7:30 and passed the hell out.

The hangover was fierce.  Haven't had one like that in a very very
long time.  Yea I was drunk, but I have been way drunker and woken
up with way less 'rockstar' pain.  I didn't rise from the bed
until about 7pm, except to make some eggs.  Still felt like
shit.  The English guy  that I was sharing a room with kindly
reminded me that I owned part of the dance floor last night.  It's
good to know the pain wasn't for nothing.

People were trying to get me to go out on Saturday and I just plainly
refused.  I feel like in the past I would have had a few beers and
been back on it.  But hangover was fierce and a bit of the
hair-of-the-dog was not helping.  I didn't go out and I still went
to bed at 4am.  I felt bad sitting in my hostel room about to
crash hearing the crazy amount of chaos that was going on out in the
street.  Saturday night in Cordoba, the streets are going off the
hook at 4am, and I am going to bed.  WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING
TO???  I fear that I might be getting older.

With Saturday shot, I made something of Sunday.  I went to Alta
Gracia, a town about an hour outside of Cordoba.  Ernesto 'Che'
Guevara grew up here.  His childhood house has been turning into a
museum with pictures, letters and artifacts.  Really great little
museum in a cute little town.  Chavez and Castro came to visit the
museum last year (June 22nd, 2006) to pay homage to their amigo.
They had pictures of the even and they had their guest book signatures
on display.  Pretty cool.

I was supposed to go today to check out some park with condors but it
rained all morning so I scratched that plan.  I was also thinking
about going to La Cumbre where my godfather, Tom, had some old friends
that he has lost contact with, but alas I didn't have enough time to
make the 2hrs there and then the 2hrs back in time to make my night bus
to Salta.  So I had to scratch that one too.  I went with two
German guys to go check out a Jesuit Mission in Jesus Maria.  We
got a full blown tour which was quite good and got to check out some
really old artifacts.  Pretty cool little trip.  I made it
back just in time to catch my bus.

I really didn't want to leave Cordoba.  University students
everywhere with a great buzz.  Chilled out city with some pretty
plazas and walkways.  Its a bit of a hustle-bustle, but it is way
more chilled out than Buenos Aires.  I would have loved to stay
longer and check out some more of the surrounding area and definitely
some more nightlife.  Alas its time to make my way further north.
