I'm a bit nervous. I have felt it before, that nervous anxiety right before a trip begins. Whats gonna happen? Do I have everything? I'm wondering what I forgot this time.
I have a bit of an idea what I want to happen over the coming months, but its actually not really planned and I like it like that. I'm pretty excited to wing the whole thing and see what happens. The plan as of now is to live in Costa Rica for a couple of months, take a spanish class (to get my spanish up in working order again, I haven't really used it since high school) and do some exploring of Costa Rica and its neighboring countries.
Afterwards, I'd like to move to the Pacific coast of Costa Rica for a while and do lots of surfing and reading. The plans of working at my friends bar on the coast have fallen though unfortunately, but I'm not too bummed. I have the crazy idea of maybe packing parachutes at a skydive drop zone to finance the completion of my skydiving license (never finished it in Austin). Not sure how feasible that is. After living here for a couple of months, the plan is to move into Panama, then Columbia and then into rest of South America. I'm curious to see how things will unfold.
I have now roughly had a month's time to settle down from my travels in Europe and to prepare for my coming travels in Central and South America. It was exactly what I needed. I got to see a lot of my family and friends which was one of my main motivations for having a full months time. It was great to see all of you guys! I had a blast. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it down to Austin, which was kind of a bummer. Money doesn't grow on trees these days unfortunately.
A months time was about what I needed to clean up from Europe, put stuff in storage, and get all the things that I needed for next leg. Its amazing how much time it actually takes to get all that stuff ready. Taxes, finances, equipment, clothes, tickets, research, and all that crap. I pretty much had just enough time to get it all done.
A month gave me a bit too much time to settle down though, and I probably got a bit too comfy at home. My flights in a couple of hours, and ready or not, here I go.
