Today I headed over to the neighboring island of Koh Samui. It is about a 45 minute ferry ride. Soon after having my ticket reconfirmed the heavens opened and it rained cats and dogs and the wind blew the rain sideways. There was a shelter but not enough room for the hundreds of people that were there to catch ferries. I was able to squeeze in and stay dry while waiting for my ferry to board. When it came time for the Koh Samui ferry it was still monsooning like crazy. There were 3 ferries departing at the same time so the pier was shoulder to shoulder and slow going. I was soaked head to toe. My gear faired pretty well as I have nylon bag fo my backpack. That is a good thing as they threw the backpacks on the back of the boat in the open and then spread a tarp over them. Those who did not have a cover had their gear soaked. It rained all the way to Koh Samui but stopped soon after I arrived.

I found a nice little place at Big Buddah Beach. An Ocean front bungalow, $20 per night. Not too bad! The beach where I am is nice, but the drive over I was thinking what am I doing here. There does not appear to be any zoning so everything is haphazard and kind of junky looking. I will be hanging here a day or two and then moving on. Koh Phi Phi may be out as the weather report in not looking too good. Stay tuned. Hoping to upload pics tomorrow as there is high speed internet here.
