In Turkey they have these cruises called Blue Cruises. They are on sail boats and are pretty inexpensive. I learned of these on the backpacker trail. So why not? We departed from Demre about an hour from Olympos. Demre is the home of the Church of St. Nicholas. There were 8 of us on the boat 4 Aussies(Byron. Meg. Malcolm and Carly) 2 Turks(Melih and Aysha. Not her real name but we could not say it so we called her Aysha) 1 Canadian(Melissa) and me. We had a crew of 3. The Capt. Birish. 2nd mate Tarik and 3rd mate Ali. (actually we had 3-3rd mates. Multiple crew changes!)
The boat slept 10 passengers. I ended up being roommates with Carly as we were the singles of the group. The 5th room was taken by the crew. Thankfully we slept on deck as the bed was just a little larger than a twin bed and not as long. The capt Birish was also the cook and a good one at that. We made several stops during our 4 days. We only stopped in one town, Kos. The rest of the time we parked in a quiet cove for some R & R and swimming. A couple of times we actually sailed the rest of the time was by propeller. The coast of Turkey is beautiful! We saw the Sunken City. A result of an earthquake ages ago. We also stopped at Butterfly Valley a bit of a hippie retreat in a gorgeous setting. When we arrived there I took a walk on the beach and looked up to see Ben from Olympos! Small world. He had not originally intended to be there but had a change of plans. We sailed by Pattaya, Turtle Beach and the Blue Lagoon. The first night out we all went out to a bar on an island with no road to the bar. Everybody came by boat! The 2nd night was in a enclosed cove and the 3rd a cove that was like a parking lot for Gulets(name of these boats). All in all it was a great trip. Our crowd was a quiet one and everyone got along well. We arrived in Fethiye friday afternoon.

Meg, Byron, Carly, and I stayed in Fethiye friday night. Poor Meg had tonsilitis and had to go to the Dr. friday afternoon.

I spent friday afternoon and saturday morning and monday morning trying to ship a package home. And by the way I still have that package. They wanted anywhere from 40-100 USD to shıp. Sorry Charlie. No Deal.

When I tried to get a bus to Bodrum Saturday they were sold out so I had to get creative. Eventually I got here and it only took a couple of extra hours. I had been to Bodrum on my previous trip to Turkey. Boy has this place grown! I hardly recognized it.
