So friday the 2nd of June i headed from Sibenik to Krka National Park. Krka is a smaller version of Plitsvice. Very beautiful. I found out the water like Plitsvice is rich in limestone, that is what causes the travetine ledges to form which makes the waterfalls. I spent part of the day touring the falls, two of the boat trips within the park were cancelled due to the winds, so i headed back to Skradin, a nice picturesque town where the boat leaves from and the bus leaves for Sibernik. After walking around there for a bit i headed to the bus station. There i met Caroline and Diana from Atlanta and Washington state, old childhood friends. We hit it off. As it turns out were all headed to Split.

When we arrived in Split the people with rooms to offer were like pirana. They were all over us. We decided to get a room together to save a bit of cash. So off we go to our abode. I called it the "house of noise", barking dogs, refigerator that sounded like it should be at the grocery store, neighbors blaring TV, overhead neighbors with lead feet. Ahh the joy of travel. It turned out fine, we were so tired it did not matter.

Saturday we spent the day walking around Split. Not a whole lot to see here. Diocleatians Palace is the heart of the old town. It has been built in and around over the years. Today the girls headed out to Hvar. I went to Togir and checked it out. Yet another quaint old town with streets of marble. Seemed to be a big yachting port, lots of nice yachts from all over. I had a leisurely afternoon hanging at a park along the port. The weather has improved its warm and dry today.

I had a comment from Maryann about the food and the people. The people have been very friendly and helpful. Most everyone speaks some english, rarely has the language been a problem.
