Hello everybody!

I thought I would share my Big Adventure(mid-life crisis!?) with you all. About three weeks ago I decided I was going around the world. The past weeks have been crazy trying to plan and get it all together. I'm outta here May 16th, ready or not! I hope you enjoy the ride.

I compiled this email list from an accordian folder I've been carrying around for years. I am also sending out postcards to those whose emails I do not have inviting them to log on to my blog if they like. I even went to classmates.com and invited my old classmates as well.

A little background for those who have not seen or heard from me in years. After 23 years 6 months I took a buyout from my customer service job at US Airways in Oct. 2005. US Airways offered some cash, insurance for a year, and online travel on US Airways. For once I lucked up. In the middle of leaving, America West merged with US Airways. Lucky for me they changed the retirement qualifications. Anyone who left the company after Sep. 27, 2005 and whose age + years of service was 65 years or greater is a bonified card carrying retiree. With that comes the ability to fly other airlines for CHEAP. IE: My Istanbul to Bangkok ticket $85.00! I was happy just being able to fly on the US Airways system, this is even better. When I left the company it was my plan to take a year or so off then search for a job. Its hard to believe 7 months has already passed. A few weeks ago I realized I better get on the ball and travel while not working.

Working in the airline biz has afforded me the chance to do quite a bit of travelling.
London, Paris, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Salzburg, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Sienna, Rome, Amalfi, Pompei, Positano, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Marmaris and Bodrum in Turkey, Lisbon, The Algarve, Madrid, Seville, Granada, Barcelona, Acapulco, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, Bermuda and 19 states and most major cities.

Some of my travels have been with co-workers and friends. Some has been solo. This trip will be solo. I have found that while traveling it is easy to meet folks. While in Greece i met 2 americans and an aussie, we hit it off and next thing I knew I was headed through the Greek islands and into Turkey with them. That was not my plan, but I had a blast! While in Italy i stayed in a hostel in Montorosso, Italy(Cique Terre), It was a great place and I would have spent more nights there, except it reeked of cat pee! The next morning I met a fellow hosteler(Hi Nicole!) who was checking out for the same reason. While waiting for the train Nicole and I agreed to meet later and go hiking. We hiked together for the next three days! In Portugal my travel buddy Scott and I met Steve the aussie on the beach, we had drinks and dinner. He suggested we rent a car and drive to the most southwestern tip of Portugal a town called Sagres. The next morning we checked out of our rooms and met for breakfast. While at breakfst we met Carolyn, next thing you know all 4 of us load into our Twingo and off we go.

Great memories!

I have uploaded some select photos of previous trips, I hope you enjoy!

Stay tuned for more...............

Go for it!
Greg and I enjoyed the visit with you guys. Sorry that you will not be joining us in Barcelona, but we can keep in touch this way. We will try to send you information and contacts for Oz and Thailand. If you get the chance while in Australia, you must get to Fraser Island, off the coast in Queensland. Lots of backpacking trips through there...it is truly an amazing experience.

Talk to you very soon!

Lunch with the girls
Hi Chuck! I'm enjoying your blog. Today I have lunch with all of my old US girlfriends. Dawn, Denise, Nancy P., Colleen, Deb, etc etc. I'm going to send all of them the link from your blog and tell them to check it out. The pics are wonderful, and your commentary is interesting and often amusing. I hear you'll be home soon. Be safe and enjoy the rest of your adventure!
