So we've heard of James Bond and apparently lots of people have heard of "the Beach" ....and apparently both took place in an area called Phangna Bay. At least that's what everything that has anything to do with tourism advertises.

Phangna is a large bay on the eastern side of Thailand and a few hundred kilometers north of phuket. The bay is dotted with hundreds of completely vertical limestone cliff islands that jut straight into the sky like a thumbs up or a nail, or something comparable. Some are covered with trees and many are narrower at the base than the top making for great perches for eagles on top and spooky watery bat caves underneath.

A Phangna boat tour consists of a big boat taking about 50 people out to the islands and then about a dozen sprightly super enthusiastic and fun Thai boys take you out canoeing to check out the insides/bottoms of these islands and kayak through the caves. It's pretty cool though the bat cave (haha) smelled horrendously of bat and they fluttered about everywhere.

We jumped back on the mother ship and sailed off to the James Bond island which was pretty cool cuz we could go on it. Fuj and I floated around in the water. It was nice cuz the islands have these small inlets where the water was calm and you could just relax in the canoe or float on the water.

After the island we sailed back to an island where we set down the anchor and were allowed to play in the water. We jumped from the top of the ship into the water. Fuj just blindly sprung off the roof. I took a look down, started trembling with fear, and then screamed as I went down. It was exhilirating. We paddled out in the canoes to a little beach on a remote island and proceeded to watch the Thai boys wrestle the tourist boys and had as much conversation as possible with what broken English they had. We learned one of the guides was a Thai Boxer and had a match that night in Patong. In the meantime he 'daylighted' as a tour guide and a LADYBOY! After getting back on the boat, three of the guys dressed up as lady boys in intense makeup and skanky clothes not even a Quinnipiac would wear (sorry chloe, low blow). They proceeded to dance, pole hump, and booty shake aroudn the boat getting on the laps of all the men! What a relief and by the end they had lots of Baht in their bras and another laughing happy tour accomplished. It was pretty funny and crazy to see.

The tour group is called Amazing Canoe for those interested and they were definitely a great group of tour guides.
