Sendok

Arrived in Bali late and got picked up by the hotel. Straight out on the town and found Cafe Sendok. Had to try the Nasi Goreng as recommended by Joski! Very yum, and tried our first Bintang, or ten!

Day 1, Up late and mooched down to Legian for farmers brekkie in a cool beach bar. Strolled through town getting hassled and had a few beers in poppies lane. Decided to book Billabong surf school for tomorrow. Dinner in an Indonesian restuarant, few beers then bed.

Day 2, Got picked up by a surf instructor who had a water bottle full of beer as we drove through town, good lad! Got kitted up and went surfing, instructors were really good and we were both standing and loving it before long. The water was disgusting, so dirty but other than that all good. Had a chilled out lunch whilst recovering and booked a temple tour for tomorrow. Off out now for beers and dinner.

Day 3, Up for a temple tour in an AC bus picked up by our guide Maxi, also on tour were 3 kiwis and an Oz couple. Went to royal temple first, followed by lunch in Pacung overlooking the rice paddies. Then on to the water temple on the lake, don't know if it was good luck that it rained on us there or not?!

Then we went to see Maxi's brothers, his words not ours, at monkey forest.

They bit a Kiwi and stole Laura's water bottle, opened it and finished it! Glad we'd had our jabs.

Tanah Lot Temple 2

Last stop was Tanah Lot the temple on the sea, we stayed until sunset. Chris got collared by an English teacher from Java who videoed us talking to show his students. They all came over, nervously and had to ask us questions. Then they wanted loads of photos with us. Seemed to be very few westerners about so loads of people were approaching our group for photos to be taken. The teacher then whipped of his shirt for the pic with Laura which was quite scary and very funny.  Our guide Maxi managed to pick up a Jakarta girl so we had to hang around for a while until we got the bus back to the hotel. 

Dinner in a mexican, few beers, tried beer Hai and its rougher than fosters and bed.

Day 4,  Bit of a doss. Woke up late good club sandwiches really cheap. Chilled on Kuta beach for a while then we went back to the hotel to relax by the pool. On the way to dinner booking up rafting for the next day.Couldn't find the night market so had satay down by the sea front. Ran out of money so changed some dollars up with a fraudster, had to go back and get all our money as he fleeced us. Had many Bitnangs in Sendok to chill out and then bed.
Day 5, Woke early more toast and OJ and in the van to be driven through more rice padis to the river. Laura was nervous so she threw herself down the steps to the river,

OK though. Shared our raft with two Finns. The river was lovely as it wound down through jungle past waterfalls and soon Laura was enjoying it.

Us

Had a massive buffet lunch overlooking the river and got  a lift back to town. Was good to pass through undeveloped bali outside Kuta. Chilled out round the pool before changing more money in a proper bank this time as you even have to pay to leave! Had a chilled last night in Chasers bar before ending up in Sendok for the customary night cap.
Day 6, Up at three! Took a whil;e to get a cab to the airport to fly back to KL.
