I'm quite sad to be leaving Cachoeira, I think I may have fallen for the place. The friendly people, the tranquil setting and the old colonial architecture makes Cachoeira one of my favourite towns I've visited so far in South America. I think in the coming years Cachoeira will become a big tourist destination so I'm really glad I've visited before the tourism flood gates open, which I'm convinced they will do in the future.
Caught the bus back to Salvador at noon hoping to catch a connecting bus to Rio sometime in the afternoon, but all the buses were fully booked to Rio today, shit!!! There are only seats available for tomorrow's departures. Looks like I'm staying in Salvador for another night. I caught a local bus to the Peloriniho and went back to the hostel where I stayed during carnival. Thankfully they had a free bed and I was welcomed back with open arms, they were really happy to see me again. I spend the evening at the hostel drinking fresh fruit juices and Acai which is an amazing frozen Amazonian super-fruit crushed and mixed with banana and cronola, hmm!! Time to get healthy again after the hedonism of carnival.
