Haven't really seen a lot of Mendoza today, went for a brief walk but I'm feeling completely knackered, just hung around the Crillon hotel where I'm staying for most of the evening. Will have a good explore tomorrow after a good night sleep.
After coming from the deep freeze which is gripping the UK, Mendoza is a welcome relief. It's 28 degrees with low humidity and it doesn't go completely dark until after 9pm, perfect!! I better make the most of this over the next few days before heading to the Andes where the current temperatures in the UK will seem positively tropical.
Had a pretty good sleep on plane with my 4 seats :o) Woke up a couple of hours before landing in Buenos Aires. After landing in the capital I had to get to the domestic airport which is 45km across the city to catch my flight to Mendoza. I had no other choice but to jump in a cab which cost me over 25 quid! The shuttle bus which was half the price probably won't have got me there on time and I didn't want to risk it. My taxi driver was a bit of a nutter driving at 160kph along the motorway. This was a good thing though, he got me to the domestic airport with time to spare. Caught my flight to Mendoza and arrived by mid-afternoon. Mission accomplished!! Another epic thirty odd hours of travel. I now have 4 days to relax in vibrant Mendoza before starting the climb of the biggest peak in the Americas, Aconcagua at 6962 metres. To be honest I'm not in ideal shape for the climb after a viral illness over the Christmas holiday's and generally being lazy, but I'll give it my best shot.
