Nightmare start to the day and my 2009 travels. All the trains from Manchester to London have been cancelled due to a power line failure. This left me in a bit of a predicament this morning. All my mates are now back at work after the Christmas break so getting a lift down to London is not an option unfortunately. It snowed last night which isn't going to help matters especially in a country which grounds to a halt when we get a couple of centimetres of the cold stuff.

So plan B was to catch a taxi to Stockport, then a train across the Peak District to Sheffield. I then waited in Sheffield for an hour or so to catch another train to London and then a third train to Gatwick Airport. Unbelievably I made it to Gatwick with plenty of time to spare before my flight to Madrid departed. A complete miracle to be honest, I didn't think I'd have any chance of making my flight when I found out about the train chaos this morning. What a mission, but I made it!!

Caught my plane to Madrid and made my connecting flight to Buenos Aires. Unbelievably I had a bank of 4 seats to myself on the Madrid to Buenos Aires leg, which was amazing. I effectively had a flat bed without having to pay for a first class ticket, sweet!! The flight was pretty full too, a nice stroke of luck on a manic day of travel. When I wake in the morning, I'll be in Argentina!!
