This morning was mainly spent organising my gear for my departure to Fiji tomorrow. Don't expect to need jumpers and big coats on the islands of the south pacific so they've now stuffed at the bottom of my backpack. They'll be resurrected no doubt when I land in the UK in mid-December.

Spend most of the afternoon in Te Papa national museum in the city centre. An impressive cultural look at New Zealand's history from the Polynesian settlers to the later European settlement. I really enjoyed the displays about the destructive natural forces which have forged this geologically young country. Also, the displays about the unique flora and fauna were extremely interesting too (Sorry to sound like a geek!). Well worth a visit, but you probably need at least two days to do the place justice. It's free admission too! One of the best museums I've visited for quite a while.

Met up with my friends after they'd finished work and we spent the evening sailing in the bay on their sailing boat. Considering we're in "Windy Welly" the winds were very light today but we still managed to pick some pace on the way to Ward island which was lifted out of the sea by the massive earthquake in the 1930's. We dropped anchor as the sun was setting and enjoyed a few beers and some delicious pate and bread by the island which was teeming with sea birds. Raised the spinnaker and sailed back to the marina in the dark with the bright lights of Wellington as the backdrop. Wellington would be a great place to live!!

Returned to my friends place and booked one night accommodation in Nadi when I arrive tomorrow evening. Still need to decide how I spend the rest of my time in the south Pacific. Will have plenty of time in-between flights tomorrow to come up with a master-plan. I see my time in Fiji as a bit of holiday before returning home after a busy 2008 on the road. I'm sure it's going to be a rather hectic couple of weeks in the UK, so I better rest up now while I can.
