Stopped off at the historical town of 1770 this morning, this was the first landing spot of Captain Cook in Queensland, not suprisingly in the year 1770. Then drove to Hervey Bay. I've booked a 2 day one night trip to Fraser island. Fraser is one of those places you feel obliged to visit when on the east coast Oz. Will be nice to have bed and not have to think about anything for a couple of days. I've had a relatively long 650km drive today with the detour to 1770.

Stayed at the YHA camp site tonight, no decent parking spots around Hervey Bay. Plus it's easier for the tour pick-up tomorrow morning. $18 a pitch which is a lot more than what I normally pay which is nothing. Does mean I have a safe place to park my car when I'm on Fraser Island through, and I can have a shower so I won't scare off the other people on the tour with my pungent aroma.
