Well after a 900km drive today, I've finally made it to the pacific ocean after an epic drive across the Australian continent. Took me just under 4 weeks in total to complete the biggest road trip of my life. I'm now in Byron Bay, sitting in a pub writing this entry having a well deserved beer :o) The road trip isn't quite over yet, still have to drive to Brisbane to drop the car off in a few days, but it's only a 170km up the road.
The drive today took me through the country music capital of Tamworth. I've definatly reached a much more populated part of the country now. Not really use to seeing all these towns, people and cars on the road. It's a little strange being back in civilisation. Take me back to the bush!!
Had a fun drive through the forested mountains of the Great Dividing Range in northern New South Wales
I've really enjoyed my road trip, it's been hard-work and tiring but really rewarding. There's no way I could have seen so much of this diverse country without my own wheels. I now need to decide whether I extend the car hire and carry on. I'll have a think.
I've parked up tonight 10km north of Byron by the main highway to Brisbane. I'll head back to Byron in the morning for a look around.

Drive to Byron Bay 1
. Twisty roads with hairpin bends lined with big Gum trees, such a nice change from long straight roads fringed by bush. Just before I reached Byron Bay the sun had dipped below the horizon, I did get a brief glimpse of the Pacific ocean in the fading light from the road. I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see the waters and coastline of the Pacific in it's full glory. I've really enjoyed my road trip, it's been hard-work and tiring but really rewarding.
