Arrived in Broome at 9am and had a walk around the pretty town. A really nice place with a rich multicultural history which is reflected in the architecture, the people and the local businesses. Sure, a lot buildings are reconstruction's for the tourists but Broome has a real nice relaxed and laid back feel about it. Could quite easily stay here for a while, but must push on. I'll only be here for the day before heading into the Kimberly tomorrow.

Went to Cable beach for a swim, a stunning long white sand beach with clear turquoise waters. The sea was so warm, a lot warmer than the sea around the Ningaloo reef.

Showers on the beach, yes! Had to take advantage of this golden opportunity to have a wash after my swim. I was starting to fester a little. Then went back to town to use the internet and drove to Gantheaume point to see the dinosaur footprints. These impressions were made in the sandstone millions of years ago, but unfortunately the footprints were under the sea due to the high tide. Still worth the short trip though, a really stunning red sandstone shoreline with Cable beach as the back drop in the distance. A beautiful view with vivid colours of the blue sky, turquoise water and deep-red stone.

I started a 240km drive in the late afternoon on the Great Northern Highway in the direction of Fitzroy Crossing in the Kimberly. Many people say that the Kimberly is Australia's last real frontier.
