On first impressions the Nepalese are so polite, courteous, smiley and helpful. Quite the opposite to my experiences with most Indians. This is just my very early feelings in Kathmandu, in the mountains the Sherpa people are suppose to be even more friendly, if this is the case I'm certainly looking forward to my time in Nepal.

I've just booked a trek to Everest base camp. The company I'm going with have some pretty impressive customers such as Prince Charles and top climbers. They also said they would give me some sponsorship for my future challenges, going to talk about this in more detail with the boss when I return from the mountains. I know I've paid more than the average Everest base camp trek but it's still cheaper than making a booking from the UK. I thought with these credentials and contacts the company have, I thought it would be a good investment and well organised trek.

There's only me and an Irish guy from Kilkenny trekking with three Sherpa guides and porters. A nice small group which is the way I like it. Met the Irish guy this evening, seems like a really nice fellow, so we should have a good crack.
