Today we travelled 35 miles up the northen highway to the historic Mayan Temple site at Altun Ha.

A clearing carved out of the primary jungle which provides a stunning back drop to this largely cleared site, te total site including the sacrifice pool and living area covers some 3 square miles.  Some of the best examples of Mayan art have been recovered from the site and are on display in the Belize musium.

The breath taking views and vistas are accessable and steps have been taken to preserve the historical site for future generations.

Admission is $10 US - the fee is used to upkeep the site.
