Today's ship log

4.00am Transiting Sumner Strait
5.00am Transiting Snow Passage
8.15am Passing Guard Island
10.00am Safely docked in Ketchikan
12.00nn Overcast, showers, gentle breeze; 14 degrees C
6.10pm Commenced voyage to Vancouver
7.00pm Dropped off Alaskan Pilots at Twin Island

We had booked the Rainforest and Bald Eagle Centre excursion so we made our way off the ship as soon as it docked Mother bear and cubs
Mother bear and cubs
.  A bus took us about 15 minutes to the Centre and a Guide took us on the walk through the Temperate Rainforest indentifying plants as we went and eventually we ended up on a board walk which overlooked a stream filled with Salmon and in the distance were Black Bears.  One was enjoying a salmon while mother bear and her two cubs decided to leave.  The walk continued onto a place where there was a Bald Eagle and an Owl in captivity, then onto the old sawmill where Red and Yellow Cedar were once milled.  We also saw a totem being carved and painted.  Lastly we got to feed the Reindeer.  This excursion definitely was worth it.
After being taken back to town I went for a look around town before heading back to the ship.

Canada/Alaska
Found this very interesting as I am doing the above tour in May this year, will be cruising on the Ryndam as Christine did and have booked the Rainforest & Eagle Centre tour from Ketchikan.
Loved all the photos.

Re: Canada/Alaska
Thank you for your kind remarks, the Ryndam is a beautiful ship and the food is devine. Good choice for the Rainforest Sanctuary it was well worth the money. If you want to know anymore then please ask.
Regards Christine
