Wed 11th.

Christina: We've arrived in Oz safe and sound. Just going to Asylum Sydney hostel.

Thursday 12th June

Awaking hungry, we headed across the road to hte local supermarket, with the intentions of taking advantage of the self catering facilities available, and bought ingredients intended to last our stay in Sydney ,such as rolls, cerial, ingredients for spag bol, sweet potato + beans and a few other essentials. Upon returning to the hostel, fellow wow hostelers thought we were posh buying our own cerial as breakfast and a limited dinner was included @ the hostel.. The Botanic Gardens rules :-)
The Botanic Gardens rules :-)
. now we find out, lol! We enjoyed what we'd bought non the less.
Fulled up, we headed out for the Sydney Explorer, a tourist, hop-on-hop-off bus stopping @ over 20 sights around Sydney.
Sam: We spent today on a tour bus of Sydney getting off at Mrs McQuires Chair point (Wife of Mr McQuire, who helped establish Sydney in late 1700's). We then walked through the Botanica gardens to the Opera House where we booked to see athe performance 'Edward Scissor Hands' tonight - exciting.
After booking the show we spent the afternoon having a picknic in the beautiful Botanica Gardens before finishing our tour of Sydney. We then returned to the hostel to get dolled up for our first experience of a show in the Sydney Opera House.
We arrived early and went to the Opera House bar before for a glass of wine prior to the show. The show was great to watch, but unexpectedly was a ballet crossed with theatre and was told through dance, music and props alone, very cleaver!  The show lasted for two hours, we then walked backed to Kings Cross (Where we are staying) via Harry's Wheels de Bar -an amazing road side stall, also popular with the wealthy and celebs, selling pie, mash and peas with a difference. We opted for 'Tiger meat pie' a scrummy pie with mash, mushy peas and gravy piled on top *

. - oooh so good :-)

Fri 13th.
Christina: Despite our luck of our 1st day in Sydney being beautifully warn, Sydney is in the middle of it's winter and generally quite cold + a bit windy, so today we headed down to China Town and George Street to a bit of winter clothes shopping, where Sam bought 2 hoodies, joggers + jeans while I bought... nothing! Yep that's right, and a turn out for the books, lol. We then returned for an evening cvhilling out in hte hostel while for Sam to recover from the eextreem xhaustion of shopping + spending, hehe.

Sat 14th

Christina: Today we wnet to the Australian Museum, which was really interesting and had, amongst other things,  with a mummy, insights into aboriginal tribes, dinosaurs and loadsa other stuff. Being freezing tho in my layered summer wardrobe we wizzed around the shops again for a jacket and some snuggly 'Emu' boots to keep my tootsies warm ensuring we were back in the hostel and made Spag Bol in time for the rugby (Auz Vz Ireland; NZ Vs England) We;re here, at Sydney's famous landmarks
We;re here, at Sydney's famous landmarks
. We finished our day by being introduced to Sydney night life by our hostel mates, which consisted of pleanty of 'goon' before going out, a popular drunken favourite of a box of cheap wine, then heading for Oxford Street to a few clubs @ 3-4am before heading home with a Subway and having some pizza.

Sun 15th

After a long lie in we booked some acommodation in a Shallet for Heyvey Bay, our next destination. Realising that the next 6 weeks are going to be cold and getting colder, we headed to the local out door shop for some sleeping bags and thermalss, in preparation for NZ - which Sam enjoyed shopping for more than me as my sleeping bag is green and my thermals blue and stripy! very funky  :-s
We had arranged to meet up with Carley and Sparky @ 7, but rudely arrived late as there were rail woks and we had to walk from Redfurn train station as we couldn't get to Newtown station, the local station to the town where we'd arranged to meet. Still, we eventually found our way and got there. Was nice to catch up, exchange travel stories,  see a familiar face and hear a welsh accent! Time we got back to Kingscross where we are staying and had no luck using our phonecard to call home it was around mid night, so we headed straight to sleep Sam, Sydney OPera House + Bridge

.

Mon 16th.

We cought the shuttle bus to the airport for our 11.35 flight up to Hervey Bay, checked into our very nice 4 bed, ensuit, and own kitchen shallet for the night and started looking at our options to travel Fraser and the Whitsunday islands.

Tues 17th.

Christina: Wow, what a trip we'vejust booked! Leaving tomorrow morning we're hading to Fraser Island, where as part of a small group, we spend 3 day 2 night 4X4 drive and camping around the Island. Returning Fri20th, we then get the overnight bus up to Airley beach , arriving Sat morning. In the afternoon we depart to live aboard a yaught where we sail around the Whitsundays! We return to Hervey Bay on Stacey and Kieran's birthday's (24th June) for 1 night before taking the bus on wed 25th down to Brisbane.

Hence, we doubt we'll have internet access for the next week, but should have loads of lovely pictures and stories when we return =)

will keep intouch when we're able to ... again, i have my phone, assuming we'll have signel, if you do need to get intouch with Sam or I  ( 07841829000).

Sending lots of love to everyone back home

Jack
Glad to hear you've arrived ok in Oz. I was moderating maths today in another part of Kent. Jack had an accident at lunch-time and ended up going to hospital in the ambulance! 'Not very exciting mum cos I was scared'. Fortunately Dave was able to get there quickly and he was ok just rather bruised after being trammpled on by some footballers when he fell over in a match!! OMG what a week its been.
Spoke to granny tonight and she seems quite happy am going to call grandad tomorrow and see how hes doing but he was feeling much better yesterday.
Have fun down under, keep in touch. All our love
Mum, Dave and Jack xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Can't get much further away now
Glad to hear that you arrived safe and sound. Had a lovley weekend down the caravan - even Grant & kj enjoyed it!Cam home early awaiting your phone call, but it never arrived. Found out from Aunty Carol that you were supposed to be meeting Carley today - but were running late. Some things never change do they!!

Mum's car going to the garage for repairs on 23 June. Nan going into hospital Wednesday for gall bladder removes. Should be just an overnight stay if all goes well. She may be using your bedroom for a night or two until she's feeling OK.
Many thanks for both the Father's DAy pressies. The solar lights are around the pond and should start working tomorrow and I've almost finished decorating your bathroom. Only grouting of the tiles under the shower anf having the new cushionfloor laid. Not bad for a Father's Day work.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Lots of love,
Mum & Dad
