Thursday 22nd May
We got an early taxi from Kota Bharu to the ferry port. We then caught the fast boat over to the smaller of the two Perhentian Islands, called Kecil. We met a real character on board the ferry called Bill who reccomended we stay in D'Lagoon (The quieter side of Kecil). We were not disappointed on arrival. The sea was an amazing colour and really warm. The hostel we stayed in was the only hostel on this side of the Island and was based right on the beach front, ideal. We checked ourselves in and then Bill introduced to Saskia, Ben (Who turn out to be two qualified physio's on a sebatical) and Tessa.
For the afternoon the 5 of us, excluding Bill, decied to venture over to the next bay along, called Turtle Bay. The sand was really white and a lot of the beach was made up of dead coral. We spent the afternoon on Turtle Bay exchanging travelling stories and sunbathing A visiting wild cat

.
In the evening we decided to eat in the local restaurant, handy as this was our only option :).am went for the local version of macarroni cheese and Christina decided to go for the tuna bolognesse.

Friday 23rd May
Today we decided to venture over to the other side of the Island by foot, big mistake. This trek consisted of a jungle walk that had only one sign to our destination, right at the beginning of our trek. The sign stated we had an hours walk. We thought that sounded ok but then started to follow the path, which became unclear about which dircetion to take. We eventually reached Long Beach, very sweaty and desperate to get into the sea. We spent the afternoon on Long Beach before returning to D'Lagoon, this time by boat:).
In the evening we relaxed in the D'Lagoon restaurant and listened to the locals playing traditional music.

Saturday 24th May
Christina woke up not feeling the best so opted to spend most of the day in the room reading her book. Sam went on a snorkelling mission with Bill that included Adam & Eve beach (Other side of Turtle Bay) and Turtle Bay Adam + Eve Beach

. Managed to see a Moray eel bully a fish out of its home and a few parrot fish. On returning to D'Lagoon Sam decided to show the locals how to play volleyball his way :). By late afternoon Christina surfaced (Looking a lot better) in time for a game of cards, which induced a tiny bit of alternative play on Sam's part aka cheating.

Sunday 25th May
Today we did a role reversal where Sam opted to read his book in a hammock on the beach, whilst Christina went snorkelling with Saskia. We had a lazy day today taking in the pace of island life with ease :). In the evening we returned to playing cards although Sam opted not to cheat on this occassion. Tomorrow we leave for Cameron Highlands

Long time no hear.
Hi, Lovely to read your most receint updates. Life at home has been so busy .Down the caravan last weekend and had our party. We had lots of cards a few bottles of wine and more importantly good company.Simon,s parents from the c.van where we were last year were down. First time we have seen them this season ,we invited them along and to our surprise they came up to. Dad also arranged for a huge bouquet of flowers to be delivered to the camp site, so now I feel really guilty at not buying him anything. He is,nt bothered though because of Dubie.Work remains really busy.Hopefully got a few days A\L next week.Grant half way through his exams. He went for revision in Ystrad in the half tearm and enjoyed it.Have had torrential rain at times this week,so much so when we came back Monday we were greated by Mr Morris trying to sort out the pond. The wind had blown the patio table onto the water pipe which had broken the pipe and all the pond water had then run between the liner and the hole it sat in resulting in the liner being about 6inches above the ground. The walls have all caved in just like a landslide so it all has to come out and start again.Another job to add to the list.Had Charlie since last Thurs.Going home tomorrow Sun. when they come back from their hols. She doesnt like to go out in the rain for her walkies though. She does what a dog has to do and then runs back leaving you in the rain.Nan had her pre op. assessment so hopefully she will have her gallbladder out in the next 4-6 weeks.I am sure there is more to update you on but cant think now.Your entry is so much more interesting than mine. You are in my idea of paradise and still sound to be having a fab time.Hope Sam is still looking after you .Sounds like you have met some really nice people on your travels.Off to finish basket no. 2 of ironing. Can you remember what that is?lots of love to you both mam x x
