* HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MAM + DAD*
Today we spent the day in Kota Bharu, the state capital, north east Malaysia, by the Thai border. We've had a brilliant day, the locals are very friendly and as interested in us as we are them. We headed for the local day market where we were greeted by numerous venders selling home cooked/ made nibbles - alomost oll of which we had no idea what they were and the stall owners couldn't speak english, but never the less curiosity for the better of us and we biught several things... some bright green cuboid, a dark green slab of something, some pastry things, and a somosa. All of which were actually really nice :-)
Later we went to the night market, renound for fabulous local food. Rows of stalls, many selling various types of curry, chicken, fish and beef; yellow, blue, purple and white rice, were in the middle with plastic tables and chairs around the perimeter
Tomorrow we've booked to go to the Perhentian Islands, very popular anongst back packers and apparently paradise...
BUT there's no internet, land phones orATM's on the island. We plan to stay about a week, but (christina) i have my mobile on me if anyone wishes to text Sam or I.
So, by for now, and will update you on our bit of paradise in a week.

Enjoying the local food
. Sam had a spicy curry while Christina had a coconut curry, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Tomorrow we've booked to go to the Perhentian Islands, very popular anongst back packers and apparently paradise...

diving
Well done for doing your dive courses - you both did far better than me! I managed about 2 hours theory, but decided it wasn't for me half an hour after getting into the pool! I found myself on my knees in the shallow end of Truro pool, hating every minute and totally rubbish at breathing through my mouth all the time. If I concentrated hard I could do it but as soon as I relaxed I tried to breathe through my nose again and then panicked when I couldn't! So that was the end of me becoming a diver. Becky and Matt both went onto qualify, but I've stuck to snorkelling. Pathetic huh? Anyway, the trip still sounds amazing and very busy. Hope the island is brill - though I know you won't be seeing this until you're off there anyway. Lotsa luv, Fiona.x
facebook photos
Great to see you'd added so many photos - the island you were on looked like paradise! Tried to message you via Facebook but my b****y computer got it's knickers in a twist and wouldn't work! Really looks like you're having an amazing trip. Love to you both.

P.S. Granny kept saying, after you'd rung, 'they make cream out there' - any clue as to what she was talking about?!!
Re: facebook photos
hey Fiona, i'd said to gran i was going for a cream tea in the Cameron Highlands. They love their cream teas :) hope all is well back home xxxx
Cream Teas
Talking of cream teas I'm now back from Cornwall and probably weigh at least 1/2 a stone more thanks to the cream teas!! It was great to be able to take granny out though and she does enjoy a scone and jam with cream on top. She's still battling on and giving back chat to everyone so that's good. Told me I was even bossier than grandad and I had a big mouth! What a cheek!!! Tee hee. Soph took Jack swimming a couple of times so they had some fun. It's now back to the grindstone of school work, writing reports and SATs marking. Am I putting you off Christina? Keep in touch, miss you. Lots of love Mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
