Today we caught the ferry from Ko Phi Phi to Phuket. We found a lovely and very clean guesthouse 'Golden Beach House' on the main street. We arranged to meet up with our uni friend Jo and her sister for dinner and cocktails tonight, it was so lovely to see them...and i pushed the boat out had lobster for dinner (christina)! Was so lovely to see them both. There's been mega heavy downpours today, monsoon season has come early, but hopefully a nice sunny day tomorrow.
We're online at mo hiding from the rain, but do intend bring our camera equipment to upload more pics soon.
Love to everyone XxX
Sat 10th May
A beautiful morning so we hit the beach where we met up with Jo and Kate, managed to get in a bit of sunbathing and a few dives in the sea before the heaven's opened again
Sun 11th
What a scorcher and our 1st real beach day of the holiday :-) lots of dips in the clear blue sea and sunbathing and even a jog along the white sand... but needless to say, with the mild wind we did over do the sun a bit - oops! In the evening Sam went to watch a Thai Boxing Match while Christina went for a lovely meal and beer with the girls as Jo and Kate were leaving for Bangkok Monday.
Sam: The thai boxing match was a great experience. 9 fights in all and it lasted for 4 hours. The main fight included an aussie and the local thai champion, who looked as hard as nails. The aussie guy floored the thai in the 2nd round, which amused me no end but did not do the same for all the locals who lost a lot of money on the fight and gave me some funny looks :)
Mon 12th
An interesting day..
Having enough sun yesterday, and the weather looking cloudy we decided to hit the posh cinema in the big shopping centre, about 20miles from where we were staying. Taking the local 'bus', an open sided truck, which drived no faster than 15mph as it picks up and drops off on route as requested by the customers, with plastic role down windows, which the driver comically pulled over to unwind/ roll up with every small patch of rain and sun... we got the the shopping mall in an hour. The cinema has 3 classes, standard (as we'd have at home), 2nd, comfy arm chairs and 1st class, a private screen with snacks and drinks included both before and during the film brought to you by a weighter (but had limited show times) so we went to second class... a two seater reclining sofa and enjoyed 'What happened in Vegas' :-)
In the evening we booked ourselves onto a trip to see 'Simon Caberet', a ladyboy show. This was quite amuzing, especially the Tina Turner and Chinese comedian, thought we didn't know any of the Thai songs.
Tues 13th
We decided today, after 7 weeks together 24/7, we'd have a day apart. Christina spent the day on Karon beach and in a local market whilst Sam spent most of the day in Karon town managing to get a local fan for a souvenior
Wednesday 14th
Today we decided to hire a moped and go up to Patong Bay. The ride was about half an hour and it included getting up some pretty steep hills, which was an experience with a little moped. Once in Patong we discovered a unique one way system and some interesting junctions. We booked ourselves onto a culture tour, which was further inland and would apparently only take 1 hour to get to.
We set off in search for this culture show and got lost pretty much as soon as we left the one way system. Then to add to the excitement it decided to down pour so much that the road became a river. We pulled in to a very local cafe and waited for the rain to subside, and waited, and waited :) Eventually it cleare3d up but by that time we had given up on the idea of a culture show and instead drove back to Kata for a Starbucks.
In the evening, we went to a local bar. Christina had an amazing dish of what we could only liken to as Coronation chicken with a twist, served in half a Pineapple and Sam had Phuket style noodles. We then sat back and watched in amusement as 2 old aussie blokes came into the bar with a young Thai girl attached to each of them. All the locals, including the bar staff and us stared at this odd paring all thinking the same thing :). We were then interupted by the street kid who we had met the night before. He came over to Sam with a massive grin and put his arm round him then shouted out you're a monkey and ran off, leaving us in fits of laughter.
Thurs 15th
This was our last day in Phuket. We had booked tickets for the ferry across to Phi Phi and left at 7:30 a.m.

Kata Beach 2
. We ran for shelter, worried our camera's would get wet. Got back to the hotel to find the small damp patch on our ceiling had started dripping water, so packed up our things and went to see the manager, pleasently supprised to find ourselves moved to a bigger room that overlooked the street with a fridge :-) and spent a productive afternoon in the hotel doing washing... by hand, which gave us blisters on our nuckles, lol, watching the news and going for a hot chocolate (wow - i've missed those! (christina). (Christina) i went out for a few girly drinks with Jo and Kate while Sam crashed back at the hotel. Sun 11th

. In the evening we both decided to ring home as we hadn't been on the internet much due to the cost. We also went for a few cocktails in a local bar where we met a local street kid selling flowers (He was about 8 years old). He'd seen Christina's phone and decided he'd had enough of work and wanted to play the games on her phone, which he did for about an hour. Real characterWednesday 14th
