Yet again we've had another brilliant day. We booked ourselves onto a tour today which took us to several attractions. First stop was a small waterfall, pretty but nothing compared to E falls we went to om Wed. We then went to 'Hell Fire Pass', a part of the Death Railway between the now Thailand and Burma, which prisoners of war were forced to build in horrific conditions in WW2 for the Japanese to transport supplies to their troops. To build Hell Fire Pass section of the railway POW's had to dig through mountain rocks using only hand tools, needless to say thousands dies. Christina: Hell Fire Pass Museum is the best museum I've been to s you can actually walk down to and along the railway and really appreciate what POW's went through, with narration on headphones.
Following this we went to the Hot Springs, a large pool of natural hot water of 45 - 55 degrees besides a cool stream, used by the Japanese troops during WWII. Some believe the water from this hot spring has a healing properties. This was awesome and really refreshing :-)
We then took a train ride on part of the original Death Railway line and took a look around a cave along the rail side, currently used as a place of worship. Finally, we were taken to the part of Death Railway 'The Bridge Over the River Kwae' a revamped bridge, as the original was dismantled as it was made of bamboo.

A very tiring day, but very interesting and insightful.

Big cutches to everyone XxXxX

bites!
I hope you took my advice re:malaria, now that you've been bitten to pieces! It all sounds amazing though and the photos are great. I'm so enjoying keeping up with your trip. Off to a wedding at Fowey tomorrow - I made the cake and had to transport that over there this afternoon - a very long, slow journey! There was a little damage, which I'll fix tomorrow when I erect the thing. I shall be glad when it's cut and eaten! Continuing safe and fun travels! Lotsa luv, Fiona.xx

Re: Bridge
Hi mum,
glad your enjoying the blog. Yer we had an awsome time with the elephants and tigers and i recon you would have loved erawin waterfalls. The bridge is not the original (as that was bombed) but they built the one in our pics straight after in 1945. Its brought lots of tourism to the area. Hope all is well at school and that Dave and Jack are ok. Good luck with the bbq. Lots of love Sam xxx
