Still not fed up with pleasure-boat rides?
Our next trip took us 400 km on the Amazon river - it actually feels more like a big lake - from Iquitos in Peru to Leticia in Colombia. 400km sounds quite a big distance but really mingy compared to a total river length of 6500km. We accepted our human limitations and surrendered...
Instead we spent some time in Leticia which is located at the border triangle Peru, Colombia and Brazil - just a 10 minutes walk from each other. After Peru Leticia looked like another world to us: Houses, streets, everyting looked after and well developed. So we did a bit of research and found out that the town and its surroundings have always been an important area of drugs trade and over the years a lot of people have lined their pockets nicely. And Guerilla (Farc) and other Paramilitaries enjoy the remoteness from the capital Bogota here.. Although we did not meet any of these guys, fortunately!
See attached some impressions from the Amazon.
