So today I did a tour out to the Tiwanaku/Tiahuanaco ruins about an hour and a half outside of La Paz, towards lake Titicaca.  It´s the foremost archeological ruins in Bolivia, and costs 80 Bolivianos, which is pricey for Bolivia, but still not that bad.

The guide was excellente, explaining lots of stuff that I wouldn´t have had any clue about if I had gone on my own as I was going to do with Edgar yesterday.  The museum was quite interesting with lots of facts about this Pre-Incan civilization that existed for nearly 3000 years before the Incas.

The ruins themselves were interesting, but a bit dissapointing, since there´s massive sections which have been reconstructed, mainly because of the Spanish that came and destroyed, defaced, and used the stones for Churches.  Therefore, I wasn´t quite nearly as impressed as Machu Picchu, of course, but it´s still quite interesting, and you have to visit the ruins if you´re in La Paz.

So anywho, I´m thinking of heading off towards Potosi, further South in Bolivia.  There I´ll visit the mines and maybe a museum or two before heading off further south.  I´m probably going to Uyuni just because everyone raves about it so much and it´s kind of on the way south, but I´m not hugely excited about it, really.

Anyways, tonight I take the bus from La Paz to Potosi which leaves around 7 or 8pm and costs around 40 to 50 Bolivianos.

hola otra vez!!
