Today we got up around 6.30am or so and went out to the market to have some breakfast. We had some things which were just like picarones in Peru (dough fried into doughnuts in oil with syrup) but called something differently. We also shared a type of fruit juice made of Api or something like that, which wasn't all that great, but it helped to start out the day.

After buying some bread and salami for our lunch, we headed down to the dock and boarded the boat towards the Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun), where we spent most of today. On the way I met a couple of Irish girls who were going the opposite direction as Edgar and I, with whom we walked a good part of the hike on the island.

What we did was we had the (Slooow, slooooow) boat drop us off at the South end of the island, and then did the 3 or 4 hour hike back to the North island where we were picked up from at 3.30pm. The boat ride for the day cost us 17 Bolivianos each (about 7 soles or 3 US dollars). Then, the various "entrance" fees for the random sites cost 20 Bolivianos in all (one cost 10 and two other 5).

It was a nice hike and there were some nice, very old Inca ruins, but nothing compared to Machu Picchu, of course. It was still interesting in that it was quite different in style, and also the views along the way were quite beautiful. It was a nice day in all and now we're back in town, nice and fresh after a good shower.

Now I think we're going to meet up with the two Irish girls to have dinner and then I hope to go to sleep not too late tonight since I'm quite tired and because we're headed to La Paz, Bolivia's capital, tomorrow.
