Another beautiful day in Arequipa

Today I woke up rather early, mainly I'm thinking because I had gotten up so early yesterday. It was good, since I was able to catch up on downloading some of my favorite podcasts for my ipod, thanks to Maja letting me hook up my laptop to the internet.
I had a really nice breakfast with Maja, and then we walked into town, as she headed off to work and I headed off to go sightseeing. Saw lots of pretty churches (this town has no shortage of them), went to the Santa Teresa Convent, which was really nice, with lots of impressive 18th century Cusco school paintings. An interesting fact about them is that in the Cusco school, they were prohibited to sign their names, so they don't know who painted all of the amazing masterpieces.
I also tried 3 different times to go to this apparently impressive art gallery by the San Francisco Church, but they nevere opened... Guess it was the wrong day to go there.. (lo intente mama ;) )
I had a great 6 soles menu with Maja and some of her coworkers near the Plaza de Armas. I had a really nice soup with noodles and meat and spaghetti with green sauce and then a pretty good chancaca (a type of honey) pudding for desert.
Afterward I met up with my English friend Jack and we hung out for a bit, and agreed on meeting at 7pm-ish at the bus terminal to get our tickets for Cusco. I'm hoping they have some, but I'm a bit worried, since my friend Silvia wasn't able to get her bus yesterday, so we'll see.
Now I'm at Maja's apartment, waiting for her to come home from work so we can hang out a bit before I leave and then I can say goodbye. I'm really grateful to her and really glad I was able to meet such a nice new friend. Thanks Maja. :)
OK, that's it for now; I'm going to make sure everything is packed up and ready to go.
