Drove through the Black Hills. The Back Road Route. The Black Hills are incredibly beautiful, with really good farm land. Saw a lot of gravel road then Mount Rushmore. I didn't go in. Just sopped on the side of the road to see and then through Custer State Park on a whim. Great whim. I took a road that was specially constructed to provide the best views of Mount Rushmore. It took over 100,000 tons of Dynamite and had the most AMAZING pigtail bridges. More Bison too. Then, I made it to the Badlands just at dusk. Got some beautiful shots and headed on. I started to get really tired with no town or hotel for miles so I found a rest stop and set up my "bed" for the night.
