Where I stayed
Siree Sea View Hotel
We arrived off the ferry and were greeted as always by swarms of locals shouting taxi taxi, We got into the back of a pick up truck, which we now realised was the normal mode of transport for tourists and taken to our hotel. We we just out of the town quite high up on a hill. We had a sea view which was nice and the sun was out!
We weren't there for long so we hired a moped and went out exploring the island. The main beach wasn't really that nice but the town was nice with small coffee shops and nice restaurants. Koh Tao is known for its diving schools and lots of people head there for this but from the looks of it I would prefer Phi Phi any day! We found a really nice Italian restaurant for tea that evening and were pleased to find somewhere that wasn't Thai food as our stomachs were still a bit sensitive
The next day we went venturing out again and found a amazing beach called Sharks Bay. To get there we had to drive up a really steep hill. Typical for us all the mopeds we kept seeing had mountain tyres on, ours didn't! I had to get off at one point as it had a really steep drop down. When we got the the bottom it was a small cove with a small hotel set within the cliff. The rooms looked lovely and you could also see villas on the mountains overlooking the sea which were beautiful. We stayed here most of the day.
The last night we went to a beach BBQ, this was nothing compared to the one in Phuket on Kata beach but it was nice enough, Again we weren't very impressed with Koh Tao but at least we can say we have been and seen what it was like.
Our next stop was Koh Samui which I was excited for as it was my birthday!
