Where I stayed
We went to our room which was basic but fine for the little we had paid. We had Nandos for tea (typical tourists) then had a early night! The next morning we had to swap rooms for some reason & we moved to a box room that was sold as ensuite but didn't have a toilet which was a bit annoying
The third day we went to the Batu Caves. These were the last stop on the tube. The tubes weren't as easy as Singapore as we had to get off one train then find another station to get on the next! The caves were huge & as we walked to them you could see a large gold Buddha against the stone. Monkeys were running around & were know for guarding the cave & the shrines inside! It was a really hot day again & we were melting! There was a huge flight of stairs to climb to enter the cave...270 aprox Chris counted!! This killed me! We got inside finally & it was lovely still really hot though! When we came out & made it down the flight of stairs there was Indian ladies doing henna tatoos - as I had passed on the idea in Singapore I thought I would have one done here! I chose a pattern to have on my forefinger, thumb & hand. The lady that did it was quite old she started off ok but then didn't seem to know what she was doing..I liked it at first but the more I looked at it the more I didn't like it...lucky it wasn't permanent!! As soon as we for back to the hostel I scrubbed it with nail polish remover to fade it & this remained a ritual for the next week or so!!
We had a eventful night as we're we're woken up to a load of noise above us! We thought it was someone in the roof because behind our room there was a cupboard that looked like it went upstairs. The more we listened the more we realised it was a animal! I'd like to think it was mice but we do think it was rats all scurrying around! Made our skin crawl
The next day we headed to Menara Tower & Petronas Towers. We walked to these & again we were melting, we laughed as it only seems like it us that's hot even looking at other tourists! We went in the Petronas Mall to cool down which was filled with designer shops & even a Harrods! We had BBQ chicken & rice for lunch Chris also got his iPod fixed which he was pleased about!
Our last full day were were up early to visit FIRM. This is a forestry research park which is famous for its canopy walk! We got the train to a station then a taxi from there as the book said but this was a bit of hassle as there wasn't many taxis around, we managed to get one but were panicking the canopy would be closed as it was only open a few hours! We arrived just in time & were shown the trail to the canopy on the
map. This was about 45 min walk through the forest yet again we were sweating buckets!! We reached the canopy buy had to climb a windy route up to it! We both said our mums wouldn't have liked it as it was really high
Our last day we sorted out our rucksacks & were made up because we had found a laundrette! Chris took all his washing but I was panicking about my stuff shrinking so I didn't do all mine! He got his all done - nothing better than the smell of clean clothes & they were all ok! I decided to do the rest of mine before our next stop...Vietnam.
