The hostel was located on a Emily Park & was within walking distance from Little India & the tube station. We ventured into Little India to get some food! The whole area is literally like you are in a different country but there was just the bustling streets lined with food stalls & shops selling saris & gold! We fancied a sit down restaurant & the only place that caught my eye was a jungle themed one- it looked like rainforest cafe & a friendly man beckoned is inside
The next day we went sight seeing & decided to go on the Singapore Flyer wheel & see the Marina Bay Sands hotel! We decided to walk into the city it wasn't too far but because it was so humid we were melting again! On route to the wheel we came across the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit being set up for the weekend! We just missed the races as we were leaving on the Saturday!
We paid to go on the wheel & got a capsule to ourselves which was fab - it went slowly around so we got amazing views! After this we went to the Marina Bay Sands hotel! This is also amazing. It is 2 towers then has a boat shaped piece on the top that is a bar/restaurant & the hotel pool! There is a viewing section that you can go up to which again was brilliant
We had McDonalds for tea just for convience & we didn't want to upset our stomachs again! (I was scare Chris might got back to his chicken nugget phase but I think it will be ok!)
Wednesday we were up early had the free breakie which was nice apart from pasta & bread & butter pudding among the choices! We headed off to Sentosa Island Universal Studios. We had got the hang of the tube system which was so much easier & air conned! It was unreal how clean it was too! We got a cable car to the island & found the park. It's not as good as Orlando but we still enjoyed it!
On the evening we watched the light show on the marina. We just made it in time & were so happy Nic & Woody had recommend this because it was so good! It was the usual fountains & music but there was projections of pictures onto the spray of the fountains. Bubbles we also coming out of the walls behind us! It was so unique & with the backdrop of the financial district & the Marina Bay Sands hotel it made for a lovely night! It was quite expensive around this area there was a mall lined with designer shops Chanel, Louis V & there was a few trendy bars on the outskirts
We had pretty much seen the main attractions in Singapore & were pleased we had a few days left as we really liked the city, although it didn't like our budget! We couldn't leave the city without having a Singapore Sling in Raffles hotel (or a sling back at razzles & Chris referred to it as!) We found the Long Bar at the hotel which was quite dark with wooden furniture & fans on the swirling. The main thing we noticed was the peanut shells all over the floor - this was apparently the norm for people to eat them then drop the shells, we joined in!
Our last day we didn't have anything planned so we sorted out our rucksacks & had a chilled morning! Chris wanted to catch some of the practice laps so we headed to the marina in the evening to find a good spot! We tried to get tickets but they were all sold it was so busy with people everywhere! We stood on the harbour bridge to see the laps - the noise was so loud! After watching this for a while we got a few beers & sat by the waterfront, relaxed, watched expensive boats float around & chatted about the next few places on our list!
Next stop Bali!
