Arrived in Perth at the ungodly hour of 2am in the morning and the wonderful Charles & Sue Westcott were there to greet us. Now there are not many people in this world that would do that so we have to make a very special mention and thank you here, AND they both had to be up for work that morning! THANK YOU LEGENDS!! Chris has promised to write a funny blog for you but in the meantime ill say it here - you were incredible hosts and we loved staying with you guys.

Walked out the door the next morning and was hit by a myriad of flashbacks from childhood, it's uncanny how similar Perth is to Johannesburg, or more, what Johannesburg was like during the 80's. We spent most of our time making comparisons between places likes Freemantle/Melville, Subiaco/Parkhurst etc.

A lot of the time we spent on or own during the day either chilling out in the garden or taking a train into town to check out Perth city. We saw the Museum of Western Australia which had a wicked section on the aborigines - fascinating and sad all at the same time, had a wee picnic in Kings Park which has a fabulous view over Perth, and had the obligatory drink at the Lucky Shag Bar down on the Swan River waterfront.

Our friends that we met in Bali, Dale & Marieka, took us out on a perfect and beautiful day trip all the way up the coast to Hillaries, a picnic at Florette and to check out the black swans, after which we headed to The Oxford Pub in Leederville for a complimentary drink or two. Complimentary due to other friends we had met in Bali who owned the pub and had left a $50 voucher behind the bar for us. We have friends in the right places let me tell you ;-)

We were lucky enough to be in Perth at the same time that Sarah (my cousin) and her new fiancé Grant were having their engagement party and so our perfect day with friends ended in the perfect evening with family. This day has certainly been a highlight for us along the way. Along the way, and we are now two months in, we have already seen so many amazing things - monuments, temples, buildings, museums etc, but nothing quite compares to creating new moments and memories with special people in your life - whether old or new.

We hung out with my aunt Patti in Freemantle, uber cool part of Perth. Patti was the perfect guide, taking us through the town with running commentary and history of the place. Met up with a friend of hers and had a fun and entertaining evening at her local pub, after which we headed back to her place to sleep in THE most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in my life - random comment but seriously I felt like a princess!

Caught up with Suzza, a South African friend of ours from London who we hadn't seen in years but unfortunately missed out on seeing her man Winnie. Suzza was getting over tick bite fever and had just jumped off a plane from SA so jet lagged to extreme the poor thing. However, she entertained us with her wickedly funny stories of herself and Winnie's time in Oz so far, as well as their recent holiday to South Africa where they got engaged. Incredible to see her and catch up.

Our time in Perth wasn't long enough and we didn't get to catch up with everybody we wanted to but rest assured it will not be the last that Perth has seen of the Taylor/Champion combo!

Perth in the back pocket, it was off to the Sydney Opera House, la la la

Sounds as though you guys are hitting everywhere just at the right time.....or you are so well organised that your trip is timed to perfection. A great advert for spending your money wisely and not on a weddi party everyone would have forgotten a few years later....hope the journey continues to be as amazing as it has been to date
