We pretty quickly left our strange abode and left for our original place. We then tried to book train tickets to Hong Kong but failed, booking train tickets is very confusing especially as they very rarely speak english. China is the first country we have been to where they speak Mandarin to us, even though we make it clear we don't understand. They just keep talking but slower and struggle to see why we don't understand. We went to see green lake, in the center of town. It was packed with Chinese people on their day off. 20 bands seemed to pack into a space the size of a basketball court, the result was a weird mix of chinese, brass band, folk and opera. Like a lot of China it was just too packed for it to be relaxing, especially as we become a tourist attraction ourselves. A strange sight was seeing a topless westerner power walking with weights on the feet and on his forearms, he looked like he had those Hulk toy hands on. On the walk back we accidently walked through an old part of Kunming that looked like a movie set for any pre-1950 scene of opium houses in China, complete with wonky floors and tiny windows.

After stocking up at an amazing bakery we left with a hour and half cushion to catch our train, the station was around 4kms away. We waited patiently for a taxi for half an hour, unlike all of south east asia Chinese drivers do not want to pick up westerners. We pay the same so they would rather pick up Chinese. We decided to walk towards the train station and catch a taxi heading to pick someone up from the center. This walk developed into a unsightly run as we desperately tried to get the train station. We made it, the tickets cost 45 each so thank god, but we were rather sweaty and angry with all the taxi drivers that ignored us. The sleeper train was for four people but we were the only two that evening which meant we could stretch our and I taught Edana how to play poker.  Kun
