I had a great time in Prague, it is the capital of cheap beer in Europe. By being the cheapest place to drink, 80c for a pint in a beer garden (does Belgian beer garden to shame on prices) , that doesn't mean that the beer isn't any good. Its Pilsner, some of the purest beer I have ever drunk, there barely any chemicals in the beer, you can drink it all day without worrying about a hang over. It also helps if you are staying with a great bunch of people who know the area inside out.
I lucky enough to stay with the guys Ami and I had met in Budapest, and who we traveled through Croatia with. It was great to catch up with Jamie, Stef and Katie again, also was able to meet some of their friends in Prague, Ross, Steph, Jackie, Missy, Kelsey, Justin and a heap of other people who were all great
I did make it to the Prague Castle for a day with a Aussie I had met in Santorini, small world, and a couple of other Aussies she had met. It had a great walk up the top of the Cathedral, but I think the highlight of the day had come earlier. There is a massive church in the Castle, I had walked all the way to the back with the guys, when I sneezed, I looked at my hands and they were covered in blood. I then had the biggest blood nose of my life in the middle of the church, I made my way outside where 5 people jumped out at me with tissues. I ran to the bathroom and it looked like a war zone by the time I had it stopped...blood everywhere. It freaked people out who walked it, they thought I must have cut an artery or something. Other sightseeing I did was walking up to the parks of Petrin Hill and Vysherad. which were really cool to just sit, chill and watch the city.
The first night I arrived, the guys had booked dinner in the best and really cheap Vegetarian restaurant in town, especially for Ami. Unfortunately, Ami was feeling really sick, so she couldn't make it, but we had the best vegetarian I have had all trip. Which is surprising because Prague is know as a city where meat is king, they have goulash for breakfast. We ended up all going out as it was Saturday, and you have to go out on Saturday. Went to a place called M1, which was pretty cool and I managed to stay out till about 2 before I crashed. The lack of sleep from the last 3 nights was catching up to me.
The next day I woke up and decided that I had had enough of my clothes, especially as most of my t-shirts were now either white or pink
One night Ami came out with a group of guys from the Busabout bus, which was great because I had already said goodbye to Ami a few days before and didn't expect to see her again. So it was like a second goodbye...
The rest my time was spent drinking in various beer gardens, pubs and clubs. Interspersed with eating and a little sleep, but mostly drinking. This was driven by the fact that a lot of the guys studying were leaving at different periods, so everyday it was someones farewell, great reason to drink. One highlight was brunch at a place affectionately called "The Stand Up Place" (Not its really name), it was a traditional Czech restaurant, where you..well..stand up to eat..great fun!
After saying good bye to pretty much everybody, including Stef, Katie, Steph and Jackie from where I was staying, it was really sad because I had spent so much time with these guys, Stef, Katie and Jamie especially
But that cant stop you and I was lucky enough to be able to dump most of my stuff at Kelsy's house, she was staying another month, and headed off to Cesky Krumlov with Jamie. I was Jamie's second last night and he had missed going to CK with every one else because he was so hammered the night before he slept through the train. CK is on the UNESCO world heritage list, apparently its no 2 on the worlds most beautiful natural places. He made our train train, we had planed to go one afternoon and come back the next however we managed to see the city for about an hour and a half. Our train, which left at 12 and was meant to arrive at 3 didn't arrive until 6 and then we hopped a bus into town that took us about 3 kms out of town because we missed our stop...there were a couple of other Aussie with us and what else to do buy beer for the walk back. Walked into the first hostel we found in town and there were 2 interesting things..firstly and most important there was a free keg..and secondly Ami was staying in the same hostel..how strange...so no sightseeing for us it was strait onto the free beer...I worked it out that I drank 7 litres of beer on the way to and in CK...a huge amount for me...It was good to see Ami again because we were able to say goodbye properly..and clear the air a bit..she actually bought me a beer!
The next day we managed to walk around for an hour and a half in the morning before we had to catch out bus out..so all up 10 hours of traveling for 1 hour and 30 minutes of sightseeing...well there was a lot of drinking involved... Jamie passed out on his bed with his boxers half way down his arse..which was a funny sight for me to wake up to...we were in our own little private loft so if anyone had come up they would have thought something strange was going on...there were also needles all over the floor (Jamie is a diabetic), so they would have thought we were gay druggies...charming...
Then it was back to Prague with a final night out on the town with Kelsy and Jamie, pretty much the only 2 guys left..was a blast..head to the airport for my flight to Rome..Italy here I come...
