Note to self, when arriving at a new city after midnight, try and not do it again... It was fun we arrived from Athens and attempted to get to our hostel...3 hours later (usually a 30 minute journey) we arrived, the best bit was when the train we through was going to get us to our location stopped permanently 2 stops before our station we need to change at for the underground. We waited around as there was lots of other people who looked like they were waiting for a train, after lots of gesticulating we discovered that no one spoke English. We eventually worked it out, and caught a taxi to the hostel even though we were only about 750m away (we didn't know it at the time but it was 2:30 and we were tired..best 3€ I have spent)..
I really enjoyed being in Berlin...Its a fascinating city with an incredible amount of History, very arty and has a great night life.
Ami and I went on a great walking tour around Berlin it was possible the best tour I have been on this trip. It went for 10 hour was only 12€ and we had the most interesting and eccentric tour guide called Preston, from the States. I learnt more history about the World Wars, Cold War, Germany and Berlin than I have done in the rest of my life..and I read alot about this sort of stuff..It didn't even feel like it went for that long..only thing was that Preston was 6'7" and had really long legs so you almost had to Jog to keep up..
There is a mu seam where the SS and Gestapo headquarters were in the time of World War 2 it is the most moving exhibition I have ever been to really just wanted to make you cry. Also makes you wonder that if these sort of Atrocities could be committed only 60 years ago, have we and has the world changed that it wouldn't happen again?
Apart from all the History there is also an awesome night lift in Berlin, on my first night I met some German guys and girls and we sat drinking till 2 in the morning at a funky jazz club called zoop..they told me about the best underground night club in Berlin it was called Panorama and it was going to be huge the next night...the next night after I told a few people about the place at the hostel Ami and I with an accomping posse headed out to this club
I have to say it has to be the most incredible club I have ever been to in my entire life...
The music was mostly drum and bass, which isn't usually my favorite type of music..sorry Marcus...but this place had the most amazing vibe...there was the most diverse crowd I have ever seen and everybody mixing and it a great mood..if the groups of people met anywhere else I am sure there would be lots of fight...The place had no mirrors in it at all..so it was like saying..who cares what you look like you are here to have fun and Dance...Ami stayed out the latest she has done on the trip and danced the night away till 5 in the morning...it was such a good night I met a few Aussies the next night who were going on the Busabout buss with me the next day and I convince them to go to Panorama..so I went again...it was pumping this time I was out till 7 in the morning..just enough time to get back to my Hostel, have a shower and on the busabout bus by 8...Meet all the guys that I had been out with the night before..we were all still intoxicated so the bus ride was fun..I have met the guys and girls a few times since and they are still talking about the night...Amazing...
