I am currently enjoying the beautiful Dubrovnik, which Lord Byron call the "Pearl of the Adradic" or as As George Bernard Shaw said: Those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik. Its 28 degress and beautiflly sunny! Having a great time!
Dubrovnik is a beautiful place...however it is more expensive than anywhere else in Croatia and it is also packed with tourist...they are everywhere...But once your can find spots to get away from them...Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful tranquil city's i have ever been to...it literary takes your breath away..
Caught a boat from Hvar to Split with the guys,(Jamie, Stef and Katie). I parted ways with Ami on Hvar, Ami enjoyed it so much she wanted to stay longer
The hostel is pretty quiet..only 16 people in a 89 bed hostel...yet they are turning away people saying they are fully booked...the staff are like Nazi's, if anyone has ever seen the episode of Seinfeld about the Soup Nazi, its like that when getting your breakfast.."You have 3 choices" and they the choice are fired at you...god forbid that you miss something because she look at you like you are asking her to get water from a stone...I went back and asked for an extra cup of tea and i felt like Oliver...everyone has a great laugh about it tho..
The are some great people at the Hostel...and as always a few strange ones..I sat up drinking with about 12 of them last night and had a great time...the are 3 guys who have hitchhiked all the way from England. 1 Aussie and 2 Poms...the 2 Poms are doing it together and they met the Aussie on the way..They hitchhiked though the coldest parts of Europe in the coldest part of the year...the are nuts...there aim is to get to Greece for the summer to work..so far it has taken them 2 and a half months..Next they are hitching through Albania...I don't know if they will ever get to reach Greece..
There is another guy (Jerry) in my room who has traveled the world running Hostels, most recently in NZ
He had been the to Island of Sipan the day before and it sounded so beautiful I decided to go as well...Its typical of the way everything for tourists is more expensive here..if you take the fast ferry (30 minutes) to the island it cost you 75 Kn about 18 dollars each way..plus you only get about an hour at the Island..but if you take the slow local ferry it take an hour and 10 and only cost 13 Kn each way for 3 dollars and you get to stay 4 or 6 hours...Crazy...it was a beautiful island..especially when the tourist boats left and I had it all to myself..Check out the photo and the story about the land mines!!
I'm off to Greece on Tonight, this involves 2 overnight boat rides about about 80 euro, which isn't too bad. It would be quicker if I could catch a bus direct to Athens, but that would mean going through Albania, Kosovo and or Montenegro...also no Bus exists to my knowledge, so a boat it is...Greek Isles by Friday!!
