The Smelly City as they call it apparently. Everywhere you go there are strange sulphurous whiffs. Its particularly odd if you are in a restaurant. Hot spas are obviously not really for me. I felt the urge to swim about or maybe get some rubber ducks or something. Instead you are supposed to lounge in hot water while you slowly turn a red colour and die of dehydration. Some people raved about the medicinal and relaxational properties but others were less impressed.

If hot pools aren't your thing then there are bubbling mud pools, geysers, and off road driving and sprint cars. I went off road driving in a teeny tiny Suzuki (sorry all LROC people) and it was good tame fun. I kind of spoiled the guides fun because as he showed me the miraculous stability of these little beasts, I noted that this must be an improvement because the previous model had been renowned for tipping over if you went around a corner too fast.

Then I raced sprint cars for a bit. Sign the disclaimer, off you go and if you do kill yourself we are not liable. Excellent NZ liability protection, none of this stupid suing stuff.

Brilliant Maori centre too although the poor Kiwi looks like it has cabin fever.
