Thanks again to Mark and Christine. Like all of our host's on this trip they have been awesome. In Mark and Christine's absence we said our farewells to Sylus and Layla (These cats seemed pretty happy to see us go). In preparation for our short drive north to San Antonio (Remember the Alamo!) we grabbed breakfast at "Hesters" which was a great suggestion from our host of the last two nights.
Drove the short 2 hours to San Antonio and checked into our hotel El Tropicano. The hotel is right on the river, so we dropped off our bags and hit up the San Antonio's #2 attraction the River Walk.
After a nice day yesterday it's once again freezing in Texas,so we pretty much had the river to ourselves. We walked north from our hotel and hit up the Pearl Brewery which is a shopping area full of restaurants that are of course closed on a cold day like today. Next we walked back south along the river to downtown San Antonio. Stopped in a Irish Bar along the river called Durty Nellys, where the bartender told us probably the most sexist joke i have ever heard. Les was not impressed.
Next up was an ice house (Texas term for an outside bar) which is clearly set up for the normally warmer weather. We had a good chat with the bartender and a couple of locals Ginger and Bailey who said they were trying to move to Seattle sometime soon. They assured us that San Antonio was the best city in TX. Finished the night at a Mexican restaurant called Rosario's which had some pretty tasty food, if a little expensive for Mexican.
We have walked 6 miles today in the freezing cold, and still not checked out the Alamo (the #1 attraction). Tomorrow that box will be checked.
